Hapag ng Pag-asa by Jeoy Velasco

Above is a picture of a painting, entitled “Hapag ng Pag-asa” (Table of Hope), by Joey Velasco. It is a painting of a Last Supper but in the place of the 12 Apostles are 12 impoverished children in the Philippines….not from imagination but real people that he paid to pose for him.It reminds mhim of the Last Supper our Lord Jesus Christ had with his Apostles. Only that in this picture, it depicts the story of poor homeless children, despite theproblems and poverty that surrounds them, still carrying on their lives with Jesus as their only hope.
For me this painting is a model for us to visualize the reality of life of different people.Through this painting we can relate our selves as part of it for we are also the children of Jesus that holds on to him inspite of the problems we have.

The Internet in the world of Media

The Internet carries various information resources and services, such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer and file sharing, online gaming, and the inter-linked hypertext documents and other resources of the World Wide Web.

There are different contributions of Internet in the world of media.Through Internet they gather information and different facts that can be used to contribute in media. Internet is a world-wide connections in which we can scope any details about certain situations in other or far places. Internet is also a one way for the people to gather facts and informations of certain things and situations in which they would be able to0 share it through media.

Internet became a tool in media in use as communication tool with people you already know. Email and instant messaging has gone way past the early adopter phase. For many families, communities, and businesses, it has become one of the dominant forms of communication. Email is up there with telephone and visiting, and more and more is displacing physical mail and fax.It is also use as an information gathering tool(for job-related research). Internet users are online doing research. Youth ages 12-17 who have Internet access, say they use the Internet for school research. For young teens, say that they used the Internet as the major source for their most recent major school project or report.

The Internet has succeeded in becoming a tool that many regular people turn to in lieu of alternatives for communicating and for finding information. It has become a new, often-used tool in their personal toolbox.

Computer technology is powerful in the world of media because it as the major source of media in which it is a tool in media. Through computer technology we are able to modernize our way of dealing with media. We can make different intertainment through media with the use of advance technologies just like computers. So with computer we can expand and elaborate things with media.

The Mediatization of the Youth

Speaker:
Rev. Fr. Christian Buenafe , O'Cram

Last November 13, 2008 a symposium about Mediatization of the youth was conducted at Assumption College of Nabunturan. The symposium talked about Media. Its main objective is to help the youth understand what Media is, how it affects our life and our generation today, to be aware of what Media really is.

"Media,Media,Media", when he hear the word Media , students and young people says its all about news and informations.

Media is a channel through which the message is transmitted. It is a part of communication process which you can gather information. There are different forms of media: the print media, broadcast and electronic media, folk and traditional media ,group and visual media, and the non-media communication.

Print Media is a medium that disseminates printed matter.
For example
newspaper,
magazines,
newsletters,
manuals,
pamphlets,
letters and a lot more.

Broadcast and electronic Media communications delivered over mass electronic communication networks and via electronic or electromechanical energy.
Examples
radio
television
cellular phones
internet
broadband
cinemas
video camera and a lot more.

Folk and traditional Media are mediums which are being performed and translated in a form of mvement.
For example
dance
rituals
drama
story telling
ballads
chanters
praise singers
songs and a lot more.

Group and visual media is also known as "Mass Media", it is a term used to denote a section of the media specifically envisioned and designed to reach a very large audience such as the population of a nation state.
for eaxaample:
slides
flip charts
posters
stickers
banners
billboards
photos journals and a lot more.

The last on the list , is The Non-media communication. Are media communications which are very common nowadays. It is by doing or being done by a person.
For exaaample
Face to face communications
home visits
public meetings
games / contests
group discussion
role playing
draama
symposia and a lot more.

Indeed, it is said that Media is the poweful catalysts for modernizing youth culture. It is a man-made force that can influence people. They say that the "youth" is the primary target of the media because the youth has the "purchasing power".
